Beyond the obligatory use of juniper berries, Gin distillers must make a number of decisions in creating their product: Which distillation approach is best to use? What other botanicals should be included, and in what proportions?

The Gate 11 founders and master distillers experimented for three years to define the exact blend of nine botanicals for this refreshingly elegant gin. They even included Orris (Latin for Iris) root as a tribute to the Tennessee state flower.

Gate 11 Gin delivers a complex and subtle balance between floral and herbaceous, citric and earthy notes. Distilled in small 7 liter batches for quality control, our gin distillates are carefully collected in an ice bath receiver before being bottled, to capture all the nuance of our botanical blend.

Gate 11 Dry Gin was awarded a Double Gold Medal at the 2021 and 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competitions. Only one other US gin has repeated at this level at the SFWSC making Gate 11 Dry Gin objectively one of the very best gins in the US.

The remarkable smoothness of Gate 11 Vodka starts with high purity corn-based spirits that are sourced from a Mid-West farmer cooperative. Upon its arrival at Gate 11, we further distill this spirit in our custom-built Column Still which contains copper packing with an exceptionally high surface area. Copper is a superior choice for distilling spirits, because the material removes sulfides, which leads to a vodka that tastes and smells better.

As a finishing touch, we filter this spirit through a bed made from active carbon and coconut husks, which further refines the distillate. This step removes any impurities, results in a heavier and thicker, almost creamy feel, and allows the flavors of the vodka to shine, resulting in a truly exceptional experience even when the vodka is sipped straight.

Our rum is white, like unaged rums, but as experienced travelers know, looks can deceive.

We wanted to create a rare experience — a white rum with unapologetic flavor – a taste that brings excitement to a range of rum cocktails and can even stand on its own. In doing so, we have created our own unique fusion of Caribbean rum styles.

The backbone of this exceptional rum is a cane sugar-based spirit that we distill through our Column Still, using the intensive contact with copper to enhance flavors and smoothness. We also separately distill and fractionate two separate molasses-based rum spirits in our Glass Reflux Still, skillfully shaping the flavor profile of these more complex rum spirits.

Finally, we blend these three rum spirits in a carefully determined ratio to achieve our rum – a perfect balance of the British and French Caribbean rum traditions. Time to set sail!

Over Proof 151 Rum is our take on a Caribbean original. A tiki bar favorite, this potent spirit works well as a primary spirit, a floater or bump in standard rum cocktails or as a dessert flambe.

Over proof rums originated from a need to make sure a rum spill did not render gun power on board a wooden naval ship incapable of firing. No worries here!

Inspired by our friends from Puerto Rico, Gate 11 Overproof 151 Rum is a great addition to your favorite rum cocktails or enjoy over a generous glass of ice as you plot your next course.

Absinthe is Swiss in origin but more often associated with Paris, since it was the drink of choice for poets, artists and bohemians at the turn of the last century. A favorite of Baudelaire, Rimbaud, Picasso, Hemingway, and Poe, this flavorful spirit was unjustly banned around the world for many decades – the victim of a few unscrupulous distillers, and a campaign by the French wine industry, who were threatened by its popularity.

Now that it is legal again in the United States, we are delighted to present INFÂME, our absinthe blanche. This fragrant spirit mixes well in cocktails like the Sazarac and Corpse Reviver, it can also be enjoyed in a traditional louching ceremony, by slowly dripping ice-cold water over a sugar cube, to melt it into the absinthe.

Our recipe is based on one of the original Swiss absinthe formulations using anise, fennel, wormwood, and angelica root. These botanicals are artfully distilled in our custom-built Bain-Marie Still to fully extract the essential oils as well as those precious louching oils.
